CHICAGO — A 150-pound cougar was gunned down by Chicago police Monday after it was loose in a residential area on the city's North Side.
Several residents reported seeing the cat early Monday and the officer shot the animal in an alley, police said.

Now WHAT was the point of that!! Could they not have tranqued the animal and relocated it somewhere else. Oh no, that would take too much effort. It's so much easier to gun it down and toss it in a dumpster. The animal had not harmed anyone that I've heard of (and I've looked at several reports). The videos they had on th news showed the big cat running from people, not attacking. Police said they didn't have tranquilizers with them at the moment and didn't want it to get away....but what confuses me is people have been reporting sitings for two weeks...that's not enough time to prepare for when they would ineffitably find the creature?
